2022 Defensive Shotgun Course Master List

The journey of learning should never end. The shotgun doesn’t get the same level of attention as pistols or rifles, but there is still quite a bit of available training out there. I have compiled a list of classes that I would take and that I feel comfortable recommending to other people.

So far, there are 17 defensive shotgun classes available in 2022. These are just the ones that I know about at the moment. I imagine more classes will be published as we move into next year. As I learn of more classes I will update this list.

  1. I am taking, for the second time, Defensive Shotgun Course from Trident Firearms Academy in Livingston, CA. Great instructors.

    1. The same Trident Firearms Academy run by Dan Gray?

The first instructor class I went to was NRA LE Handgun & Shotgun Instructor Course in 2011. Dan Gray was the instructor. I was a young buck, just getting into the instructor game for work. Towards the end of the class Dan pulled me aside and told me some guys have the instructor gift and some don’t. I was one that did. He doesn’t know this, but I still think back on that 30 seconds he took to encourage my development as a shooter and instructor.

If you see him, tell him Nathan Parker says hi, and thanks.
