The P3000 Project, Continued

Looks like the P3000 will be coming back to primetime TV. Ammotogo.com has graciously, and without petitioning, volunteered to help fund some of the ammunition to push the P3000 over the 2,000 round mark.

If you need caught up, the original post about the modifications made to the gun is available here.

If you haven’t been following along, the first update at 1,000 rounds went to USAcarry.com. The gun is chugging along nicely, and is no longer all Stoeger parts. We have branched out into the aftermarket, and the gun is getting close to beast mode.

Most of the aftermarket parts on the gun are from S&J Hardware. There is a type 2 follower, an oversized safety for the Benelli M4, and S&J’s low profile optic mount for the Benelli. The optic is a Sig MSR, just because $500 shotguns don’t get $500 optics.

All the guts of the gun are the factory original parts, and will stay that way until they start to break. Hopefully that is quite a ways down the road still.

We are sitting at a conservative 1,250 rounds. I lost track a bit after 1,000, but safe bet there is quite a bit more than 1,250 actually on the gun. To be safe, we are restarting the count from there.

I have only had one malfunction so far, in the Symtac shotgun class earlier this spring. The gun has been impressive, and if Stoeger would actually make it this way, it would be one of the better off the shelf defensive shotguns available.

On the docket from Ammo To Go is a flat of Fiocchi #8 and a flat of Federal Game Shok in #6. I also have buckshot loads to try, I picked up some of Remington’s 8 pellet Ultimate Defense 00 buckshot. I also picked up some Fiocchi Defense Dynamics 00 in the opaque blue hull. Fiocchi, for whatever crazy reason, decided to change the wad design. I am not expecting as much from the newer version of that load.
